The History Of The Book And How It Came To Be Translated
In 2008 Lilly’s Grandson Alan Taylorson (pictured right), who now lives on the Greek island of Corfu) mentioned the existence of the recipe book to his friend Alan Smith (a long term Corfu resident and retired business person) and history was not just made but preserved.

As soon as Lilly’s Grandson “Little Al” told Alan Smith “Big Al” about the existence of Lilly Longman’s Edwardian and Victorian recipe book, Big Al saw the opportunity, took the bit between his teeth and embarked upon an 18 month project to restore the recipes to modern day English.

The result is a modern day A4 heavy-weight glossy illustrated cookery book which contains over 200 of Lilly’s traditional recipes and is available to buy via mail order.

Lilly Longman’s story, as handed down through the family, is quite interesting.  She was born in 1882 and from an early age was employed as a scullery main by a wealthy family of extended Royals.
